Former Off the Ground duo combine for British Road Movie
Former members of Wirral's youth theatre Off the Ground have joined forces for a new comedy road movie 'A Hungry Feeling.'

Upton and ex Calday Grammar School, Richard Weston has recruited his fellow OTG actor and now LA based, Chris Mason for the lead role of a new road movie, 'A Hungry Feeling' which takes a new angle on the trials and tribulations of young actors.

Since their Off the Ground days c. 2008 traversing the outdoor shows at local beauty spots such as Arrowe Park, both Chris and Richard developed their careers in the industry
Weston directed the award winning biopic of war poet, Wilfred Owen The Burying Party, still streaming on Amazon Prime and has attracted nearly 0.5 million viewers. He has launched a crowdfunding campaign for A Hungry Feeling to bring the script, fine tuned on a workshop in Tuscany , to reality.
Chris Mason recently played the villain, Chad Gekko in the US drama Riverdale and is best known to British audiences for his role in Broadchurch 3. He is currently in an HBOMax mini series called The American Guest.
The film's premise begins in the wake of Brexit when a hapless young actor David embarks on a journey to the darkest corners of Europe with his old friend Tom as he battles with the ghost of his past.
Tied by friendship and a once near-fatal experience, they escape their humdrum lives in Liverpool and London while eventually discovering the truth about themselves through the many friends and faces that they meet.
Largely autobiographical, the film, written and directed by Richard Weston is nearing the pre-production stage.

Weston said: "Chris and I have always had an interest in working together, and this script seemed the best opportunity. He understood perfectly the heart of the film and what we want to achieve."
"This film, for a big part, is autobiographical. It sums up an era, and in the mean time explores true love, true friendship and the truth behind letting go. Spanning across Liverpool, London, The Somme, Ghent and Berlin, A Hungry Feeling truly was a journey as I hope it is for those who watch it. I hope it will be like a life raft for someone else.
The title is from the folk song, 'The Auld Triangle' which the characters repeatedly sing throughout the film. It got me through lockdown, and it became the centrepiece for this vision. It talks of a prison cell. One of longing, one I broke free from writing this, and hoping others do."

Fans of Withnail and I, Sideways and In Bruges should identify with the pathos while many will empathise with the familiar coping methods deployed by the two main characters, David and Tom.
The crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo now offers unique rewards including producer credits on the film.
